Dial Bluetooth Troubleshooting Tips

If your dial isn't communicating with the display, or it has lost power, here are some troubleshooting steps you can perform:

Step 1: Check for Power

Make sure the dial is properly powered by double-tapping Navdy's power button. This will display the dial's status along with its battery level on Navdy. If the battery level is low continue to step 2 below. If the dial isn't connected to Navdy at all or Navdy asks you to pair the dial continue to step 3 below.

Step 2: Change the Dial's Battery

Replace your dial's battery with a Panasonic, Energizer, or Sanyo CR2032 battery and be sure to install it with the positive side up. If the dial's LED stays solid/on for 5 seconds when you insert the new battery and close the battery door it means the dial is working and you can skip to step 4 below.

Step 3: Reset the Dial

Try reseting your dial's firmware by performing the following steps:

  1. Open the battery’s dial door and remove its battery
  2. Short the two battery terminals on the dial (as seen in the image below) by contacting both terminals with the edge of the battery
  3. Place the battery back into the dial, positive side up, and tighten the battery door
  4. Hold the dial’s button for 10 seconds until the dial’s LED blinks, confirming the dial has unpaired with Navdy
  5. Continue to Step 5: Re-Pair the Dial, below, and perform the steps there

Step 4: Re-pair the Dial

You should attempt to pair your dial with Navdy again if Navdy indicates on its screen to do so, your dial’s actions are unresponsive on Navdy, or the dial’s LED stays solid/on for 5 seconds when you insert a CR2032 battery but it isn’t responsive with Navdy.

  1. Fully power off Navdy and ensure its LED is off
  2. Wait 30 seconds following power off of Navdy. Open the dial’s battery door, remove the CR2032 battery and place it back in (positive side up), and close the dial’s battery door.
  3. Hold the dial’s button for 10 seconds until the dial’s LED blinks, confirming the dial has unpaired with Navdy
  4. Power on Navdy
  5. When you see the dial's pairing prompt (as seen in the GIF below) on Navdy press and hold your dial's button for 10 seconds until Navdy confirms the dial is paired on its display
  6. If Navdy doesn’t pair with the dial try again by pressing and holding the dial’s button for 10 seconds

Step 5: Update The Dial's Software

We've introduced new software for the dial which improves its performance. Make sure you update your dial to this new software by performing the steps found here. You'll first update your Navdy's software and then update the dial's software thereafter.
